Course Aims and Objectives:
To provide students with:
- An in-depth knowledge of the nature of tourism and hospitality and its
economic consequences. Understanding of the operations, structure and culture
of the industry.
- Understanding of contemporary issues in the industry.
- Information technology skills, customer relation skills.
- The opportunity to acquire necessary skills to function in a
multi-disciplined and complex industry.
Progression:
Career opportunities exist in a wide range of tourism and hospitality related
areas. The qualification will open up further opportunities for the people who
are already working in the industry. Progression can also be made in to
postgraduate study.
Entrance requirements:
OTHM Professional Diploma qualification or equivalent overseas degree
Work Experience
Higher Diploma students are expected to either have work experience in the industry before joining the course or be working part-time in the industry during the course or both. Candidates should note that if they intend to study for further professional qualifications in the industry a certain amount of industrial experience will probably be required.
English Language requirements:
IELTS score at CEFR level B2 or any English Language Test certificate from the Secure English Language Test list approved by UK Border Agency equivalent to CEFR level B2. Please find the UKBA approved English Language Test list on the right menu.
Assessment:
By a single 3-hours externally set examination paper

professionally qualified OTHM students for a direct entry to the final year of
London South Bank University's BA (Hons) Tourism and Hospitality and M.Sc in
International Tourism Marketing.
