The college does not recommend students for their examinations if their attendance falls below 80%. In the case of absence the college must be promptly informed. A medical certificate is required if the student has more than three days of consecutive absence owing to illness.
Procedure for dealing with poor attendance:
It is the College’s policy to monitor student’s attendance continuously. The Registrar is responsible for examining all the attendance register once every two weeks.
Stage 1
If it is discovered that a student has been absent for a continuous period of two weeks the Registrar will telephone him/her to obtain an explanation for the absence. The Registrar will also monitor students’ who attend irregularly and seek explanation. If the Registrar is satisfied with the student’s explanations no further action will be taken other than to advise the student of the necessity to maintain attendance in excess of 80% to satisfy Home Office regulations.
Stage 2
If the Registrar cannot contact the student by telephone she/he will write a letter to the student to arrange a meeting. If the student does not respond within one week by letter or telephone with a reasonable explanation the Registrar will send a formal warning letter. This will advice the student of the consequences of non-attendance at classes. (Normally a report is being sent to the Home office advising that the student has breached the terms of their visa). If the student attends the meeting and agrees to attend classes regularly, the Registrar sends a confirmation letter, which gives one calendar month for attendance to improve.
Stage 3
If the student continues to absent him/herself from classes a final warning letter will be sent. This will advise the student that the college intends to remove him/her from college student listing at the end of the semester.
Stage 4
If the student does not respond to the warnings and attend classes on a regular basis the Registrar/Principal will write to the Home Office confirming that the student has been terminated from the College because of non-attendance. A copy of this letter will be sent to the student as confirmation of his/her termination.
Punctuality:
Being late for classes is not only detrimental to the academic process of the late comer, but also disruptive for the entire class. Students arriving late may be marked absent. Persistent offenders may be suspended from the college. All full time students are expected to attend daytime classes for a minimum of 15 hours per week.
Books and Stationary:
The college provides students with the list of recommended textbooks and other relevant course materials. Students are expected to buy their own books and stationary.
Conduct:
Students are expected to conduct themselves responsibly on the college campus. Any misconduct may result in suspension of the student from the college.
Payments by Cheques/Drafts:
Please note that a minimum of five clear working days has to be allowed for clearance of cheques drawn on UK banks and 14 days in case of foreign drafts.
A fee of £50.00 (Fifty Pounds) will be debited to the students account if the Bank returns a cheque or a UK draft unpaid. The fee will be £100.00 (One Hundred Pounds) in case of foreign drafts.
Tuition Fee Refund Procedure & Conditions:
a. Tuition Fees are non-refundable if after the commencement of the course, the student stops attending or leaves the course before its completion. Also they are not refundable if the student is suspended from the college or is absent due to illness.
b. Students requiring a student visa to enter or remain in the UK may claim a refund of the tuition fees paid (less an administrative charge of one hundred pounds) only if their visa application has been refused and the College is informed prior to the commencement of the course.
