   ACCA Certified Accounting Technician (CAT)

  

Awarding Body: The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) awards this vocational qualification.

For Whom: Those looking to gain practical work experience whilst studying, and qualify for exemption from the Foundation Stage of the ACCA professional examinations.

Course Aims and Objective:

To provide students with:

  • Qualification of an ACCA Accounting Technician that will ensure technical competent in all aspects of accounts support
  • Theoretical knowledge towards developing ability to apply knowledge in practice via NVQs or the Technician Training Record.
  • Completion of the ACCA Accounting Technician that provides a stepping stone onto the ACCA professional examinations and allows to claim exemption from the ACCA Part 1.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the course the students will be able to:

  • Help qualified accountants by preparing and analyzing financial information
  • In a large company, work as part of an accounts team.
  • In a small business, be the only person trained with finance and accounting matters.

Minimum Entry Requirements:

  • At least 16 years of age with no formal qualifications
  • Exemptions are available for LCCI Holders on individual subjects.

Duration: Minimum 1 year

Intakes

  • January (June examination )
  • May (December examination)
  • September (December/June examination )

Course Structure:

There are three levels of examinations:

Introductory Level

  • Paper 1: Recording Financial  Transactions
  • Paper 2: Information for Management Control

Intermediate Level

  • Paper 3: Maintaining Financial Records
  • Paper 4: Accounting for Costs.

Advanced Level

Compulsory Papers:

  • Paper 5: Managing People & Systems
  • Paper 6: Drafting Financial Statements
  • Paper 7: Planning, Control & Performance Management

Optional Papers Choose 2 out of 3 papers:

  • Paper 8: Implementing Audit Procedures.
  • Paper 9: Preparing Taxation Computations
  • Paper 10: Managing Finances

Examinations

Paper-Based Examinations are held twice a year in June and December for Advanced Level
Computer-Based Exams (CBEs) for Introductory and Intermediate Levels can be taken at any time at LPC (pre-registration required)

  • Student Registration ( June ) --- 31 December
  • Student Registration ( December ) --- 15 August
  • Examination Registration ( June ) --- 15 April
